To Him
Teaching Pastor; Staff Governing Elder; Staff Director
Recognizing that all things are from him, through him, and to him can make us feel small, but it also brings freedom. Only God can carry the weight of the world, and when we humble ourselves to receive life from him and give him glory, we find great joy.
Application
Reflect on the idea that your life is an offering. Consider your time, giftings, energy, resources, and imagination—how can you offer those things back to God?
When everything is about God, it brings us freedom. What would it look like to be free from the fear of man, the fear of losing, or the fear of scarcity?
Key Points
The fact that “all things” are returning to Jesus provides a unique motivation and freedom for his people.
Before the world shattered, God had a plan for our restoration. The reunification of all things under Jesus is the focal point of all history.
Ironically, Jesus uses death to destroy the power of death.
When we humble ourselves, we can find great joy in working for God and listening for his direction.
As a church, we reject negative forms of institutionalism—simply doing something because we have in the past.
Instead, we strive to be faithful with what’s in front of us and grow in dependence on God, in Scripture, and in prayer.
