Believers as God's Holy Habitation
Teaching Pastor; Staff Governing Elder; Staff Director
Throughout Scripture, God is carving out a people and a place for himself. Since the Holy Spirit descended at Pentecost, God’s people have become his holy place. Like those early believers, we are given the Spirit to orient our lives around his mission.
Application
As a church, we are called to be on mission with God. In what ways have you experienced this corporately? Is God prompting you to be more involved?
Individually, how are you experiencing the presence and power of God? In what ways do you need to move to keep in step with the Spirit?
Reflect on the reality that if you are a believer, the Spirit is always with you. Are there any areas of your life where you are grieving the Holy Spirit?
Key Points
The Church is built around the idea of mission. This has implications for how we spend our resources and whom we draw into our lives.
For believers, there is both a corporate and an individual experience of the Holy Spirit. The corporate element is primary and helps shape our personal growth.
Our experience of the Holy Spirit is often diminished by our weakness, sin, and comfort in this world.
When we are on mission with God, giving our lives away for his Kingdom, we will see the Holy Spirit at work in our lives in powerful ways.
